  13. I am using  an internal Zoom 14.4 Fax/Modem (RPI supported) on Pentium
  14. PC  with Windows 3.11.
  15. This thing  works very well when used with the provided Comm software
  16. (COMMIT in my case). No problem at all to fax or talk to other modems,
  17. BBS┤s etc. On the other hand, when I try to establish an  Internet
  18. connection, through a dialer such as Winsock, I receive page s of
  19. garbage, some times I can connect in one or two trials, some time it
  20. takes 15 ! Also, I cannot use it outside Windows (since RPI is not
  21. there any more), for example for Dos games.

  23. What I know is that this problem is related to RPI support but, is
  24. there a solution ????? other than of course scraping this piece of
  25. shit ! 
  26.  I downloaded WinRPI from Rockwell hopping that it will
  27. improve things. No luck... Not only it does not improve  my  ISP
  28. connections, but also the regular Windows connections do not not work
  29. properly. I read at Rockwell site that for older modems  working with
  30. a given version of the chipset, users reported similar problems. My
  31. chipset version is V1.403-BP39 (regular RPI).
  32. Is there a hope? If not, this  may be a good excuse to buy a new Supra
  33. 28.8 (of course with hardware compression) modem !
